It’s Friday!
Meet The Kim Sisters. Actually, only two are sisters. The third is their cousin. Close enough.
Their story is fascinating, but I’ll just hit the high spots here. They sang American songs for American troops in South Korea in the early 50s. Legend (and Wikipedia) has it that those troops returned home and spread word of the talented trio. An American manager soon followed, then Vegas and eventually twenty-two appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show.
And why not? They’re adorable. Even in this low-res clip, their vivacity comes through sharply. And talented? Just wait until the 1:00 mark. The marimba is just one of many instruments that these women played and played well.
As always at Groovy Friday, you’re encouraged to learn more. There are several clips of The Kim Sisters out there. Go find them.
Have a groovy weekend!
