The artist known as Prince has died … TMZ has learned. He was 57.
Prince’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early Thursday morning.
According to E! the singer had been recently struggling with the flu, but had assured fans not to waste their prayers on him just yet.
His death comes as a shock to his fans, but for the past few weeks Prince has been very ill with the flu. He canceled two shows at the beginning of April but after resting for a week he made his performance in Atlanta despite still feeling sick.
On April 15 his private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois after he suffered from a medical emergency. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for three hours before getting back on his plane to return home. The next day the “Purple Rain” crooner appeared at a concert and assured fans he was just fine.
Prince was an incredible musician, showman, singer, and songwriter. His influence was far reaching and his music touched the lives of millions. The shocking news prompted some of his biggest celebrity fans to take twitter to share their reactions to the news of his sudden passing.
