It’s Friday!
This is a delightfully groovy little clip featuring Lara Saint Paul. She started her career in 1962 as Tanya. A couple of years later, she’s rocking the Buckingham Palace look right here on Italian TV. From these humble beginnings, she went on to an astonishing career. She’s had songs produced by Quincy Jones and worked with such artists as Ray Charles, Lionel Hampton, Louis Armstrong, Roberta Flack, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder. Not bad for someone I’d never heard of before I saw this clip.
That’s the great thing about Groovy Friday. We’re all learning something here.
She’s still with us, age 71, and she still performs. Look her up.
Here she is at the beginning of her career. Such a future. I don’t know the future of the male dancers in this clip, but I like to think they settled down together and lived happily ever after.
Have a groovy weekend!
