It’s Friday!
It’s also Labor Day weekend, the official end of the summer season if not the actual season of summer. We’re going to wrap up our Swingin’ Summer Spectacular today with the one and only Elvis Presley.
You may have heard of him.
This is from the 1966 film “Spinout”. Elvis plays Mike McCoy, singer for a rock combo and part-time racecar driver who finds himself juggling three very different women, all marriage-minded. It’s a generic Elvis outing. In this clip though, he’s juggling more than just three women. More like a bevy.
It is good to be The King.
Portraying one of the women is frequent Elvis co-star Shelley Fabares. She was Donna Reed’s teenaged daughter on “The Donna Reed Show” (1958-1963). Her father on that show was actor Carl Betz. He plays her father in this film as well. That’s him near the end in the double-breasted blazer.
Wow.
Have a groovy long weekend!
