    It’s Friday!

    Here’s Broadway legend Chita Rivera from one of her many appearances on TV’s “Hollywood Palace”.  You may recognize the song.  It was part of this classic Groovy Friday post.

    What can one say about Chita?  A two-time Tony Award winner who originated roles in such shows as “West Side Story”, “Bye, Bye Birdie” and “Chicago”, she starred just last year on Broadway in the musical “The Visit”.  She was nominated for her ninth Tony Award at the age of 82.  That’s pretty impressive, but even more so when you know that in 1986 she suffered 12 fractures to her left leg in a severe auto accident.  She kept dancing.

    And for you ladies who are tiring of sexy female back-up dancers week after week on Groovy Friday, here’s a bevy of hot, studly, black-clad male dancers to stoke your passions.

    This week’s headline comes from “Forbidden Broadway’s” satirical version of the song “America” from “West Side Story”.  Chita played Anita in the original production and won her first Tony.  Rita Moreno played the role in the film version and won an Oscar.
