    It’s Friday!

    Here’s a rockin’ little tune from Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers to kick off your weekend. The band formed in 1957 and recorded prolifically, but it wasn’t until Brian Epstein became their manager in 1964 that they had any chart success. At the time, Epstein also represented an up and coming band known as The Beatles. In early 1966, Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers were the opening act for The Beatles on their final European tour. Eventually they covered the Lennon/McCartney song “Got to Get You Into My Life” for a single produced by Paul McCartney himself. It became their biggest hit, peaking at #6 on the British charts.

    This song, “I Take What I Want” is not one of their bigger hits, but it’s a fine example of their work. If you find their music appealing, I encourage you to investigate further.

    Escalating this clip into Groovy Friday territory is the appearance of semi-famed dancer Sandy Sarjeant. She was a regular on the British music series, “Ready, Steady, Go!” in the 1960s, and look at her go here. She was known for her fancy footsteps (among other things).
