It’s Friday!
Geoffrey Chaucer (1343–1400), known as the father of English literature, wrote in his epic poem Troilus and Crisedye:
“But at the laste, as every thing hath ende,
She took hir leve, and nedes wolde wende.”
You do understand Middle English, right? The phrase has since morphed into the well-known maxim “All good things must come to an end.”
You may be asking yourself what this has to do with the usual dancers in go-go boots. It’s simply my way of announcing that, like all good things, Groovy Friday must come to an end.
Yes, it’s true.
But don’t fret. It’s not ending this week. I think I have enough clips left, coupled with our usual holiday re-runs, to spin this out until the end of the year. Then on December 29th I’ll drop the clip I’ve been sitting on since Day 1, the grooviest clip of all.
This week, we re-visit our annual Halloween clips, both taken from the classic Rankin-Bass film Mad Monster Party. Two years ago it was Little Tibia and the Fibians performing “It’s the Mummy”:
