Thursday afternoon, CBS announced plans to reboot the classic 1950s sitcom “I Love Lucy.”
“We’re all very excited about bringing this beloved sitcom back,” said Brad Blowhole, Vice President of Development at CBS. “The issues Lucy and Ricky faced in the 1950s have even more resonance in today’s America.”
The move follows several reboots of classic series including “Roseanne,” “Will and Grace” and CBS’s own announced reboots of “Murphy Brown” and “Designing Women.”
When asked how the show could possibly be rebooted when the main cast is long dead, Blowhole responded, “We believe that the public’s love for these classic characters will transcend that and the return of Lucy to the CBS fold will be welcomed by all.”
