Fiction Friday 100-Word Challenge: A Shipwreck, Maybe?

Here is your writing prompt and isn’t it lovely? Oh, sure, that ship may not look like much but I bet it has a long and storied history. Or perhaps a short and intensely interesting history. You’ll have to let us know. What story can you tease out of its hulk and that small body of shallow water just beyond?

Tell us the tale in 100 words, either in the comments of this post or at your own web home with a link back to us, please! Story ahoy!

  1. First Officer Van Skoellar was dying. He had floated all night, carried by the current to this isolated beach. He could see the remains of his boat nearby. No sign of the crew of course. He had watched as they disappeared down the maw of the creature. Sitting atop the mast to get a better view, he had been flung high in the air plunging into the waves with a steel spar sticking out of his chest. The cold, pale rising Sun did nothing to lift his spirits. The crows began arriving. He knew they would take his eyes first.
