Fiction Friday 100-Word Challenge: A Cabin, Maybe?

Here is your prompt for this week! Notice I didn’t give the cabin any particular descriptor in the post title because I didn’t want to sway you in any particular direction. This cabin could be near practically any body of water in the world, or not on this world at all. Peer closely and tell me what story you see in this serene scene!

Remember, your story should be 100 words on the button. You can put it here in the comments or at your own web home with a link back to us, please. The past couple of weeks have brought some wonderful and fun stories. We’d love to read more. Why not give it a shot? You never know what you might create.

  1. The cabin wasn’t a big as he’d hoped, but he’d had to build it quickly. He looked in the window near the front door and imagined the front room filled with things he’d harvested from a nearby forest.

He loved that forest. He knew some people found it intimidating, or scary, but not him. It’s where he’d always felt safest.
As he looked through the front window, the cabin exploded as his father’s boot crashed through it.

“Pick up these toys, boy,” he slurred, falling into his chair.

“Sorry, sir,” he whispered, quickly retreating into the forest in his mind.
