Here is your story prompt and what an lovely prompt it is! Wouldn’t it be fun to step boldly past that sign and wander along that dark trail heedless of why the area might be closed? No? Huh. Maybe someone already did that and found…something. Or someone.
You’ll have to tell us what happened here! Remember, you get 100 words, which you can leave in the comments here or at your own web home with a link back to us, please. Lead us down the path to a great story!

I’m a week behind, but here’s the link to my take on his prompt, posted on Medium:

Keith looked forward to “Mycological Foray” for weeks. Chanterelles were bringing a good price and he needed money. While he had started out foraging with the group he separated hoping to score the motherload alone. He had also grown tired of those geeks and their incessant chatter. So coming across the “Closed Area” sign was definitely fortuitous! The fungi fools would never break the park rules and all those ‘shrooms would be his for the picking. In a few yards he saw the cap. “Shit! Someone else beat me here”, he thought trotting toward it. Only then did he realize what the damp leaves were hiding. Quicksand!
Nice twist. I’ve often thought these little 100 word stories would make great opening paragraphs to a longer story. Your character is in sticky spot indeed.
